Day 1 of Navratri:
This day is devoted to celebrating Devi in the form of Shailputri Ma.
Shail means Mountain and Putri means Daughter.
In this form Devi appears as the strong daughter of the mountains. She represents strength, courage, will power, determination and perseverance.
While climbing a mountain, the path is ridden with struggles till you reach the peak. Being in the awareness and devotion to the energies of Shailputri Mata you shed away your blocks and inhibitions and move ahead to scale great heights.
Mantra:
Om Shailputriaaye Namah
Meaning: I surrender my doubting mind to the Divine Energies of Shailputri Mata so that she leads me to scale great heights of spiritual awareness and awakening
